FOREU4ALL joins 33 European Alliances at University of Turin & UNITA event on skills development

October 1, 2025

Last September, the University of Turin and the UNITA – Universitas Montium Alliance hosted the conference “Empowering through skills: the role of the European Alliances”, under the patronage of the CRUI – Conference of Italian University Rectors.

The event brought together representatives from 33 European University alliances and nearly 60 universities, a strong demonstration of the sector’s engagement with the European Universities Initiative and its role in shaping the future of skills and education in Europe.

FOREU4ALL was represented by Ludovic Thilly (Secretary General of EC2U Alliance, FOREU4ALL co-coordinator and WP2 Lead), who joined the high-level panel alongside European Commission representatives and alliance leaders.

In his intervention, Ludovic underlined the early success of FOREU4ALL, which already connects 73 alliances, 20 topical groups, and more than 2,000 experts. He stressed the concrete impact of alliances at institutional, local, national, and European levels, highlighting that they are “an excellent tool to boost Europe’s competitiveness and to make the Union of Skills a reality.”

The conference also featured European Commission Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, who reaffirmed strong political support for the Alliances as key drivers of skills, competitiveness, and European integration.
