First FOREU4ALL Workshop: Putting the European Label into Action

December 2, 2025
  • The first in a series of eight transversal workshops organised by FOREU4ALL will take place in Venice on 4–5 December 2025, hosted by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and EUTOPIA.
  • The workshop will focus on “Putting the European Degree Label into Action: Bridging Policy and Practice”, bringing together topical groups on European Degree & Joint Programmes and Quality Assurance.
  • 110 participants are expected to join onsite in Venice, as well as about 400 participants online.

The FOREU4ALL Community of Practice, bringing together all European Universities alliances, has launched a series of transversal workshops with a first event in Venice, Italy, on 4 - 5 December 2025. Hosted by Ca’ Foscari University and the EUTOPIA alliance, this inaugural workshop will serve as a forum to connect policy ambitions with practical implementation, focusing on the European Degree Label.

The theme, “Putting the European Degree Label into Action: Bridging Policy and Practice”, was proposed jointly by two topical groups of the Community of Practice: European Degree & Joint Programmes and Quality Assurance. By engaging members from across alliances, the workshop aims to explore concrete steps, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration around the future of European higher education.

With 110 onsite participants and about 400 following online via a hybrid format, the event ensures broad accessibility. The sessions will be broadcasted via EUTOPIA's YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience of academics, practitioners, and policymakers to follow the discussions.

This topic is both timely and highly relevant for alliances and for the wider higher education sector, coming right on the heels of the first European Degree Forum (20–21 November 2025, Florence, Italy) and the inaugural meeting of the Policy Lab. The aim is to ground the ongoing work on the European Degree Label in the real, hands-on experience of practitioners who work every day on joint programmes and quality assurance within the alliances’ framework. It provides space to bring practitioners' positions and perspectives on the practical implementation and assessment of the label's criteria. Participants will explore how to guarantee that the label delivers genuine added value for all stakeholders, and ultimately, for the students it is meant to serve.

The workshop also marks the beginning of a cycle of eight face-to-face transversal workshops to be held between December 2025 and July 2028. Each workshop will gather participants from across alliances, external experts, and stakeholders to foster deeper dialogue and cross-cutting innovation in higher education.
